Illex squid

Ilex squid is an important commercial catch. Its average size is 33cm, similar to the Japanese squid. It can be found through the western ocean of Argentina between 35 degrees and 40 degrees South, common waters between Argentina and Uruguay. It can live up to 800m, feeding on crabs and shrimp.

Puipleback flying squid

It can be found through Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean and Sub-tropical Ocean. Feeding on the fish, crustacean etc. on the shallow and mid-water, meanwhile as the prey of the seabird and tuna.
The catch period of Puipleback flying squid is from April to November. It is an important commercial catch, having a promising future to develop.
